Summary
The world renowned Troy Savings Bank Music Hall is seeking a dynamic, strategic, creative thinker, and problem solver with excellent communication skills to join its full time staff as Marketing Manager. The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing an integrated marketing plan and strategy for the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, a nonprofit cultural institution with an annual operating budget of $2 million serving over 45,000 visitors each year.
This is a professional level position suited to someone with 3-5 years of experience in marketing and/or public relations and/or nonprofit arts administration. The Marketing Manager is self-initiating and accountable for the successful execution of marketing tactics, budget management, and administrative duties. This includes meeting deadlines as outlined in marketing plans, efficient management of budget and resources for completion of duties, and positive working relations with colleagues. This position will be measured with the timely execution and campaign results that successfully grow audiences along with ticket revenues, brand awareness, and growth opportunities through digital media, ticket sales, and public relations.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in reaching diverse populations and communities with print and digital marketing strategies utilizing data driven, traditional and innovative approaches in a fast paced, high volume ticketing environment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Marketing/Advertising
• Design and implement multi-channel marketing plans to generate single and group ticket sales that maximize attendance and earned income and helps to increase institutional visibility.
• Lead organizational communications via digital and physical campaigns, including email, brochures, postcards, website, telecommunications, press releases, and social media.
• Spearhead the creation of all advertising including gathering assets, copywriting and working with contracted media services. Coordinate digital marketing strategies, including the website, advertising, and social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts (paid and organic). Provide light graphic design services as needed.
• Make necessary media buys from local vendors. Negotiate marketing vendor contracts and mail house bid processes.
• Analyze and report on audience data, sales, and digital activity (utilizing Google Analytics, Theatre Manager and other tools) to inform marketing strategy.
• Work in conjunction with Director of Patron Relations and Audience Development Specialist to monitor, track, analyze ticket sales, patron profiles and analytics
• Use predictive metrics to help establish attendance, single ticket, and subscription sales goals. Define KPIs for campaigns and analyze performance and effectiveness against ROI objectives to improve strategies.
• Develop and execute annual PR/marketing calendar. Develop and control marketing budgets.
Communications
• Ensure that all advertising campaigns, external messaging, and collateral materials represent the mission, vision, and impact of the organization. Effectively tell the Music Hall’s story through external and internal communications.
• Work collaboratively and cross functionally to meet or exceed marketing and organizational goals. This may include developing comprehensive strategies to support education programs, fundraising, programming, and rental income goals.
• Enhance and steward the Music Hall brand.
Leadership
• Promote a collaborative, participatory, and compassionate work environment.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with partner organizations and vendors.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local and national media.
• The Music Hall has a small, dynamic staff and relies on cross-departmental collaboration. All positions are expected to routinely contribute in areas outside of their primary focus to execute successful programs and operations to ensure that the patron experience is welcoming, kind, and comfortable. Examples include but are not limited to answering the office phone, assisting with projects, providing support for performances and events, including serving as manager on duty as needed.
Desired Characteristics and Qualifications
• A creative thinker capable of innovating and pivoting quickly, capable of handling multiple projects and prioritizing appropriately. Creative, visionary, yet detail oriented.
• Degree in arts administration, marketing, communications, public relations, or other related field; Education or work experience beyond an undergraduate degree may count towards experience.
• 3-5 years of experience working in marketing, communications, advertising or a relevant field.
• Superlative communication skills, both in writing and interpersonally
• Proficiency in all facets of digital marketing analysis including Google analytics, SEO practices, and website optimization.
• Professional experience working with a CRM or ticketing software; WordPress or other CMS platforms; Microsoft Office suite and cloud-based environment, Adobe CC applications (especially InDesign and Photoshop) and HTML.
• A demonstrated interest in the arts, culture, and popular entertainment. General knowledge of a wide range of musical genres and styles.
• Experience working with an audience-serving cultural organization preferred.
• Ability and enthusiasm to work occasional evenings, nights, and weekends as performance and event schedule demands.
• Maturity, compassion, and a sense of humor.
