Housekeeping Assistant Supervisor/Asistente Supervisión Housekeeping
Position Summary
The Housekeeping Assistant Supervisor supports the Housekeeping Supervisor in overseeing daily operations of the housekeeping department. This is primarily a part-time supervisory and coordination role. If operational needs require additional hours, the employee may transition to a full-time schedule by taking on room attendant duties alongside supervisory functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assist in directing and coordinating daily work assignments for room attendants and housepersons
- Conduct room inspections to verify cleanliness and IHG brand standard compliance
- Provide on-the-job coaching and guidance to housekeeping team members
- Ensure proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or guest complaints to the appropriate department
- Assist in verifying room statuses in the property management system (PMS)
- Monitor cart organization and communicate restocking needs
- Support team morale and uphold a professional work environment
- Enforce hotel policies, safety procedures, and brand standards
- Fill in for the Housekeeping Supervisor during absences or peak periods
- Assist with opening and closing duties for the department as needed
- Complete inspection reports and end-of-shift documentation accurately
Additional Duties (Full-Time Schedule)
When scheduled full-time, the Assistant Supervisor will also perform room attendant duties, including:
- Clean and service assigned guestrooms per brand standards (bed making, bathroom sanitization, vacuuming, dusting, replenishing amenities)
- Maintain hallways, service areas, and linen closets clean and organized
- Remove trash and soiled linens; restock rooms with fresh supplies
- Respond to guest requests for extra towels, linens, or amenities
- Operate housekeeping equipment safely and correctly
- Report damage, missing items, or unusual room conditions to the supervisor
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 1 year of experience in hotel housekeeping or a related role
- Prior lead or supervisory experience is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
- Ability to push and maneuver a fully loaded housekeeping cart
- Comfortable working with cleaning products in a ventilated environment
Compensation
- Starting wage: $16.00 per hour
