Vice President of Business Development

ELTA North America (ELTA NA) is a global leader in the design, manufacture and support of innovative electronic systems for the United States government. ELTA NA is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Vice President of Business Development. 


This leadership position will be responsible for business development and strategy formulation and execution to achieve growth targets through pursuit and capture of federal contracts in the Defense sector. This position will lead, manage, and supervise business development activities and teams within ELTA North America, guiding the business strategy, developing sales approaches and resources, and leading strategic bids to achieve economic and commercial performance. Customer base business portfolio focuses on the Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Advise the BD/Sales department on achieving profitable growth through business development to ensure share of market and profitability of products and/or services
  • Establish a true Business Development approach and action plan to develop business in the markets identified
  • Devise sales strategy and help set sales objectives and resource allocation
  • Manage sales as a portfolio in order to achieve targets and ensure a consistent sales process globally and the transfer of best practices
  • Own the customer relationship Act as the 'voice of our customer' to communicate customer demands, offer needs, and market realities
  • Ensure the transfer of best practices from deals/customer solutions
  • Create and implement strategic prospects and bidding processes for strategic deals
  • Ensure effective control of marketing and business development results and that corrective action takes place to be certain that the achievement of marketing objectives is within designated budgets
  • Track performance against established metrics for opportunity qualification, bids and win on a regular basis


  • Bachelor’s Degree required (B.A. or B.S. in a technical discipline) or equivalent from a four-year college or university or DoD equivalent institution, Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Ten years experience serving in a capture and/or business development role in organizations that provide products and services for Federal Defense customers plus at least ten years management experience required.
  • Proven background of sales within the Federal and DOD government space with extensive base of contacts and connections and proof of substantial business wins in the Defense sector over the past 5 years
  • Experience with integrated surveillance system technologies (radar, camera, command and control system).
  • Critical thinking, analysis and planning capabilities to develop capture plans and win strategies for bids
  • Must have strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Must have excellent planning and organization, project management and time management skills
  • Ability to handle track and capture multiple opportunities and the discipline to manage a team, following-though on actions and commitment
  • Travel: up to 50%
