Muskoka Landing is a fully accredited long term care home in Huntsville, Ontario and serves 94 residents. Huntsville is approximately 124 km north of Barrie and 76 km south of Parry Sound. Join our team as a Co-Director of Care (RN or RPN) & IPAC Coordinator!
Under the direction of the Director of Care, the Co-Director of Care (RN) performs nursing skills in accordance with the standards of nursing practice as outlined by the College of Nurses to ensure the provision of optimum care for each individual resident.
The Co-Director of Care (RN) is responsible and accountable for the coordination, implementation and overall management of essential programs to the home which could include wound care, infection control, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
The Co-Director of Care (RN) is also required to adhere to safety protocols, contribute to policy development, and ensure the accuracy of resident assessment data. A key component of the position involves staff management, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions.
Additional duties involve community outreach, supporting ongoing professional education, managing resident files, and orienting new team members. The Co-Director of Care (RN) also participates in committees, manages supplies, collaborates with students and volunteers and mentors staff in leadership development.
Reporting to the Director of Care, the IPAC Coordinator, is accountable and responsible for providing infection and prevention control expertise and leadership in the implementation of program initiatives and deliverables; developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating infection control programs as well as building capacity internally and externally to detect and manage infection prevention and control (IPAC) issues while serving the needs of resident, families and colleagues. The role will ensure delivery of the infection prevention and control education and auditing and will utilize relevant legislation and best practices.
We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:
Must possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss 79 and Ontario Regulation ss. 51/22.
Successful completion of or enrollment in Long Term Care Senior Management or equivalent
2 years experience in Long Term Care (Gerontology) preferred
Possess the qualification requirements to certify with the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss. 79 and Ontario Regulation 102/22 (5).
Completion of IPAC Canada endorsed course preferred. Must enroll post-hire if not already completed.
Certification with CBIC-CIC© or CBIC LTC-CIP (Long-Term Care Certification in Infection Prevention) is preferred. The successful incumbent will be required to successfully obtain, once eligibility criteria is met to certify.
Minimum of 2 years' experience of relevant infection prevention and control related experience with a comprehensive understanding of IPAC practices and program service delivery.
Demonstrated skills in program planning, implementation, evaluation and ability to contribute to continuous quality improvement in relation to infection prevention and control.
Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education
Must be computer literate
