Radiologic Technologist

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the physicians, performs radiographic procedures to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries.  The Radiologic Technologist works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs radiographic procedures as prescribe and ordered by the physician.
  • Determines proper technique through the selection of voltage, current, and exposure time.
  • Positions patients for the proper view of the affected area.
  • Instructs patients as to the proper physiological requirements for the procedure.
  • Maintains technique charts in rooms in compliance with the state law.
  • Operates radiographic equipment for performance of procedures.
  • Provides preventive maintenance to equipment and monitors its operation.
  • Communicates with clinical staff to verify patient’s schedules, medications and special requirements of restrictions.
  • Completes X-ray orders and keys charges for the purpose of billing insurance carriers.
  • Discusses the radiologic examination results with the departmental supervisor or professional personnel.
  • Ensures that any required consent forms are signed prior to the examination.
  • Actively participates in the quality -assurance monitoring and recording efforts of the department.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform general radiographic procedures and Bone density exams
  • Order supplies for the department
  • Maintain the PAC system, monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance
  • Inputs charges for the purpose of billing insurance carriers

Education and Experience:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of the training program in radiologic technology from an approved school.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT).
  • CPR Certified
  • Bone Density experience preferred but not required
