Strong City Baltimore is a 50-year-old grassroots nonprofit that builds and strengthens neighborhoods and people. Our mission focus is on enhancing the capacity of residents and social-change makers to improve their communities. Through fiscal-sponsorship and other capacity-building efforts, we provide financial management and strategic supports that empower grassroots leaders to carry out their vision of community change. Strong City supports more than 130 initiatives that focus on Neighborhoods, Education, Youth Development and Social Innovation.
We are seeking a self-starter, independent, detail-oriented and community-focused individual to serve as Development Associate (DA) for Strong City Baltimore. With the CEO, the DA will implement a fundraising plan to support the general operations of the organization. The DA will support the day to day activities of the Development Department which includes: Mailings, Gift Tracking, Donor Recognition, Data Management, Event Support, Grant Proposal, and Grant Report preparation. The DA will maintain the organization’s donor database and keep accurate files on individual, corporate, foundation, and public funders’ contact information, solicitations, meetings and communications, acknowledgments, emails sent, and ensures timely acknowledgment of all grants and donations.
The DA will manage the implementation of the organization’s Annual campaign which raises approximately $100,000. The DA is responsible for three individual mailed donor appeals per year and expanding individual giving through the integration of the WeDidIt online donation platform and other giving platforms including Benevity and United Way. The DA will collaborate with the Digital Media and Communications staff person to utilize social media and other marketing strategies to support the Annual Campaign. The DA will collaborate with the CEO to implement an individual donor cultivation strategy and help identify new potential donors through prospect research, analysis, and outreach. The DA is responsible for monitoring and updating records for each Strong City donor including producing donation acknowledgment letters within two business days.
The DA will assist the CEO in raising approximately $100,000 in sponsorship funds for various 50th Anniversary events and will assist the CEO with the implementation of Strong City’s Capital Campaign. The DA will assist in scheduling meetings and events between Strong City staff and potential major donors.
- Experience with fundraising strategies, grant writing, and CRMs
- Well organized with superb communication skills in person, over the phone, and in writing
- Ability to synthesize information in a cohesive, compelling, and comprehensive manner
- Ability to work with individuals to collect information and manage projects
- Ability to manage competing deadlines
