Would you like a fun job teaching hands on engineering and technology activities to children age 4-14? FUN2LEARN Academy (dba Engineering for Kids®) is hiring Teachers for our high quality S.T.E.M enrichment programs offered in Middlesex and Somerset County, NJ.

Who are we?

Engineering For Kids (EFK) provides science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education to children ages 4 to 14 through classes, camps, clubs, and parties. Our hand-on learning activities teach engineering concepts and inspire the next generation of engineers to build on their natural curiosity. The Edison EFK Program Director is a Ph.D. scientist that is passionate about children's STEM education.

-Programs are all hands-on, project based, student centered.

Positions Available: Assistant Instructors; Lead Instructors; Assistant Program Director – Applicants who answer all our pre-screen questions will be given priority. Promising candidates will be invited to take our video interviews to expedise our hiring process.

 

Assistant Instructors (part-time only; hours may differ from week to week):

- Assisting the Lead Teacher during lessons

- Supervising activities

- Communicating with Lead Instructors to coordinate class logistics

Lead Instructors (part-time only; hours may differ from week to week):

- Properly prepare and teaching lessons to school age children: after school programs, camps, community workshops, parties, etc.

- Communicating with Program Directors and Assistant Instructors to ensure proper arrangement of Class Logistics.

- Monitoring and supervising student interactions

- Communicating with the parents and school administration

Requirements

- Must be punctual and dependable

- Must have great energy and child-friendly personality. 

- Must understand that play is serious learning for children and willing to teach hands-on students centered project based program.

- Previous experiences working with group of children (any age group 4-14 years old) and experience in ONE of the following areas are required for Lead Instructors:

  • STEAM/STEM-based learning (engineering, science, Robotics, architecture, coding, technology, gaming, etc.) – you can be a professionals, an avid hobbyist or a college/graduate students with experiences in these areas. 
  • SKILLS-based instructors, i.e., sewing, woodworking
  • ART-based instructors, i.e., illustration, design, etc. 
  • HOBBY-based instructors, i.e., modeling and crafts
  • Substitute teaching experiences
  • Education major/minor students with strong interest in S.T.E.M. education or hands-on learning. 
  • Afterschool Enrichment program Instruction.

- Active or retired teachers, professionals, tech wizards all welcome as long as you know your subject well and know how to share your knowledge in a fun way with children -- knowing how to connect with children is essential;

- Self-starter that is willing to learn; Confident and able to work independently.

- Must agree to background check

-  Must has a valid driver's license and has a dependable vehicle allows you drive around to different locations in the Middlesex and Somerset counties.

- Schedule is flexible. During school year, must be able to work at least 2-3 week days during after school hours (3:00 – 6:00 pm), weekend hours also available.

- Responsible High School Students knowing how to connect with grade school children may be considered for Assistant Instructors.

 

Assistant Program Director:

Responsibilities:

-           Fully competent with teaching all Engineering for Kids Curriculum (with emphasis on Robotics and Programing. You do not need to have experience in these area but you must have interest and confidence to learn)

-           Function as Lead Instructor in varies classroom and events setting (such as workshops and demonstration sessions) as needed.

-           Train and evaluate teaching staff.

-           Manage scheduling of all classes and teachers as well as material logistics.

-           Help with generating marketing and client communication materials such as flyers

-           Help with inventory management.

Requirements:

-          All quality of Lead Instructor PLUS

-          Excellent organization skills with knowledge of web based technology platforms (such as Microsoft office, Google Drive, etc.) and communication skills

-          This will be regular part-time position (with full time potential). You may start as a Lead Instructor and be promoted to this position. Must be available at least 4 days Monday to Friday 2:00- 6:00 p.m and one day during the weekend.

-          Must has experience with managing people and events.

-          Knowing the local school enrichment program system and PTO/PTA experience a plus.

 

Pay

Commensurate with experience and responsibilities.
