CONTRACT TITLE:             Accounting Database Specialist

Contract Pay:                    $30 per hour

FLSA Status:                       1099 Contract   

Description:

This position is a project-based role with the purpose of setting up a new General Ledger account structure, multiple program budgets and integrating various systems into a new financial database. The Accounting Database Specialist is ideally someone who is comfortable navigating through different financial systems, CRM databases and other project management software systems and understands how they are inter-connected. This person should know how to build a Chart of Accounts and standard Financial Reports. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Finance and support the Finance team during the project timeline.

This project can be completed in the Charleston office, remote, or in a hybrid work setting.

Responsibilities:

·         The primary responsibility of this project is to split out the company books from one merged set of accounts into two separate accounts for the purpose of supporting two separate entities, including management of federally awarded grant funds.

 

·         Develop an integrated system which connects the following systems into an efficient operational process flow:

1.       Customer Relationship Management (CRM) - used for Sales Pipeline, Invoicing, Revenue Recognition, Collections, Customer Reporting

2.       Grant Management tracking – for Pipeline, Writing, Pending Asks, Awards, Compliance, Reporting

3.       Financial Software – 3 separate Company Account listings

4.       Expense Report Management Module – Policy Setting, Credit Card Usage, Travel Reimbursement, Approval System, and others

5.       Accounts Payable Automation – including expense coding allocation

6.       Payroll & Benefits - Time tracking & job coding

7.       Budgeting & Forecasting Module – for Financial Reporting and consolidation

8.       Financial Analysis Tools – for Metric, KPIs, Dashboard reporting

9.       Project Management Software

10.   Objectives & Key Results (OKR) & Performance Management System

 

·         Basic Proficiency in all or many of the following software applications:


1.       Microsoft Excel

2.       Microsoft Word

3.       Microsoft PowerPoint

4.       GrowthZone

5.       QuickBooks (Online and Desktop)

6.       Stripe Merchant Processing

7.       Bill.com or related Expense Mgmt. tool

8.       Asana

9.       FloQast

10.   Microsoft Power BI

11.   Tableau

12.   Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

 

Qualifications & Experience Required:

1.       Understanding of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

2.       Experience with financial software conversion, implementation, or buildout

3.       Understanding how to build the three primary financial statement reports

4.       3+ years of accounting experience

5.       Grant and/or Project Management experience

6.       Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

7.       Ability to maintain confidentiality

8.       Excellent written and verbal communications skills

9.       Ability to manage and execute multiple responsibilities simultaneously

10.   Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on organization’s success

11.   Critical thinker and problem-solving skills

12.   Ability to evaluate a problem and present solutions and recommendations for improvement

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

§  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentage.

§  Understanding of accounting principles and required financial reporting.
