Evening Water Fitness Instructor - Middle Tyger YMCA
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Operations Director, the water fitness instructor will conduct classes that comply with the standards of the certification held as well as the YMCA’s mission and teaching philosophy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional certifications in water exercise or fitness including, but not limited to: YMCA, ACE, AFFA, ACSM, AEA, etc. or in-house training.

Current certification in Adult or Community CPR and First Aid

Ability to see and hear noises in the aquatic environment and recognize swimmers in distress

Communicate verbally and project voice across a 25-foot distance
-
Demonstrate appropriate exercises and activities in the water (86*) or on deck (88*)
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Maintain a safe instructional environment.

Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the pool, deck, storage, and surrounding areas.

Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times.

Report for duty on time and prepared to teach wearing appropriate fitness/swimwear

Know and practice all emergency action plans and procedures.

Secure a substitute in the event of illness or emergency and notify the Aquatic Director.

Engage in positive public relations with members.

Refrain from eating, reading, talking, or texting on cell phones while on duty.

Assist lifeguards in the event of an emergency, including accident/incident reports.

Complete all employment records in an honest and timely manner

Notify the Director or Building Supervisor if a potentially serious problem is observed in the pool or surrounding area.

Perform additional tasks delegated by the Director for the overall benefit of the Aquatics Department and YMCA.
