The primary purpose of this position is to engineer custom equipment used in the metal casting industry. You must be a flexible, results-oriented problem-solver. Projects generally vary from one to the next, therefore you must thrive on variety and enjoy taking on new challenges. This position also works closely with our production team as well as customers. Some travel may be required (up to 10%).

 

Palmer is a global company specializing in the production of heavy-duty no-bake foundry equipment.  Our company provides sales, service, and support to customers in the United States and numerous countries worldwide. Our company is continually growing both domestically and internationally and is searching for a qualified candidate to fill our Mechanical Engineer position.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S., possess an unrestricted driver license with a record acceptable to our insurance carrier for coverage, and pass a background check. Relocation is not available.

 

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manages project from design to installation
  • Perform analysis to develop design options for structures, systems and components to meet customer requirements
  • Reviews the accuracy and feasibility of all drawing and bill of material releasew
  • Participates in engineering and design solutions including applications, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and safety
  • Utilize Solidworks design software to perform engineering and design tasks
  • Leverages AutoCAD and other design tools to ensure work is completed efficiently
  • Provides application engineering support and cost projections for Sales
  • Provides technical support for service department and direct customer service
  • Conducts research & development for new products
  • Drives implementation of standardization and modularization of product lines
  • Conducts cost analysis to determine profitability and future sales prices
  • Direct interaction with customers
  • Always represents Palmer in a positive and professional manner

Candidate qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree with experience in related field
  • 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • 3D modeling experience, SolidWorks preferred
  • Industrial machine shop or industrial manufacturing experience a plus
  • Foundry operations or bulk material handling experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Detailed analytical skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and complete work in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to initiate and support change to the organization
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management at the local and division levels
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Familiarity with ERP Systems, SAP preferred
