Sales Application Engineer
Summary:
This position is responsible for pre-sales support, quotations, order fulfillment, and user support for power distribution equipment, mining components, automation products, and systems. The Application Engineer will be responsible for overall project quotation management for the electrical and industrial utility markets, with an emphasis on E-Houses, PCRs, shelters, control rooms, substations, transformers, switchgear, switch houses, distribution boxes, mining roof supports, and longwall pan lines.
Essential Functions
- Provide pre-sales technical support and application evaluations.
- Generate proposals and quotes.
- Specify components based on customer requirements.
- Collaborate with co-workers to develop solutions for customer needs.
- Maintain a strong focus on internal and external customer service.
- Process sales orders for factory production and issue change orders when necessary.
- Provide customers with updates regarding products in production.
- Identify and resolve process issues with minimal direction.
- Present technical information clearly and concisely in both written and oral form.
- Provide support for (including but not limited to): substations, transformers, switchgear, switch houses, E-Houses, and distribution boxes.
- Work with customers and engineers to ensure equipment meets system requirements.
- Establish customer rapport and maintain customer acceptance.
- Prioritize timely follow-up.
- Recommend new and improved products to customers and explain cost-effectiveness advantages.
- Stay informed on new products and services and develop creative ways to introduce and market them.
- Assist with planning sales exhibits and trade shows as needed.

Required Education and Experience
- Experience in all aspects of developing and executing product specifications and quotation formulation.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of quotation experience in electrical control houses, switchgear, industrial utility markets, E-Houses, or similar markets.
- Associate degree in Electrical Engineering required; Bachelor’s degree preferred, or 3–5 years of work experience as a Sales/Application Engineer (SAE).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with SAP.
Travel: This position requires up to 10% travel.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. In-Person based in Bristol, VA
