Market and Business Intelligence Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dayton/Miami Valley Entrepreneurs Center, Inc. d/b/a “The Entrepreneurs’ Center” (EC) is an Ohio 501(c)(3) corporation established in 1998. The EC is a modern economic development organization whose focus exclusively on assisting entrepreneurs and small businesses. The EC delivers support for entrepreneurs through all phases of development and commercialization process, from idea inception to business growth and expansion.
The Market and Business Intelligence Manager, reporting to the VP, Innovation and Engagement, will organizing and leading client and program market research functions, as well as manage and optimize the organization’s client relationship management systems, impact data collection and reporting.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Market and Business Intelligence Manager will oversee two primary areas of responsibility:
Market Intelligence
Owns EC’s market research projects, including ad hoc projects for startup clients as well as recurring market research to gather and share industry insights, thought leadership, and provide information that guides EC’s services and capital access strategies
May, from time-to-time, manage part time resources such as student interns and externs to perform foundational market research
Example client research projects include:
- Foundational market research for a client business opportunity (total addressable market, market trends, etc.)
- Industry / sector venture capital market activity
- Competitive analysis
Example industry/corporate research projects include:
- Recurring (e.g., quarterly) VC market data – general market data, industry market data (e.g., aerospace and defense),
- Regional market data (e.g., global, US, Great Lakes, Ohio, Dayton MSA)
- Proposal support data (e.g., market insights and analysis to support funding applications, proposals, etc.)
Business Intelligence
- Owns EC’s client relationship management (CRM) system, currently Airtable, to ensure client demographic data, project data, and impact data are efficiently and accurately collected and monitored
- Performs periodic projects to gather and analyze client and EC, client, and industry data for benchmarking, comparative analysis, progress, and more
- Leads EC’s client survey and related processes to collect, audit, and report client impacts to relevant funding and community stakeholders (local, state, and federal)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-3 years in information systems and/or market research
- Naturally inquisitive
- High attention to detail
- Strong project management skills and follow through – gathering and aligning on project/research requirements, setting and committing to timelines, strong communication on progress and outcomes
- Comfort with business systems and excel
- Airtable, Salesforce or other CRM a plus
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, business administration, or related area of study or combined education and professional experience
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The position is typically office or administrative work and is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Some domestic travel, though rare, may be required.
