Accounting Representative II (Accounting Specialist / Staff Accountant)

Chief Financial Credit Union is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support general ledger reconciliations, ACH exception processing, corporate account balancing, and month-end accounting operations within our Finance Department.

This role plays an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, resolving transaction discrepancies, and supporting strong accounting controls across the organization.


What Youโ€™ll Do

Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accounts remain balanced and properly documented

Process and resolve ACH and Share Draft exceptions, returns, and adjustments

Maintain and reconcile the Credit Unionโ€™s corporate account, researching and resolving transaction variances

Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end closing procedures, including accruals and supporting documentation

Research transaction activity and provide accounting support to internal departments

Prepare documentation and support internal and external audits

Maintain accurate financial records while adhering to internal controls, accounting procedures, and regulatory requirements

Accounting Environment

In this role, you will regularly work with:

General ledger reconciliations and supporting schedules
ACH and share draft exception processing
Corporate account reconciliation
Month-end accounting support and journal entries
Audit preparation and documentation support
Internal department transaction research and resolution

This position plays an important role in maintaining the financial accuracy and operational integrity of the Credit Union.

Qualifications

Required

3โ€“5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial reconciliation experience

Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliation processes

Experience researching and resolving financial discrepancies

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Professional communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred

Experience in a credit union, bank, or financial institution accounting environment

Associate degree in Accounting or related field

Experience with ACH processing, financial transaction research, or banking operations
