Strong City Baltimore is a 50-year-old grassroots nonprofit that builds and strengthens neighborhoods and people. Our mission focus is on enhancing the capacity of residents and social-change makers to improve their communities. Through fiscal-sponsorship and other capacity-building efforts, we provide financial management and strategic supports that empower grassroots leaders to carry out their vision of community change. Strong City supports more than 130 initiatives that focus on Neighborhoods, Education, Youth Development and Social Innovation.
We are seeking a self-starter, independent, detail-oriented and community-focused individual to serve as the Digital Media & Marketing Manager (DM) at Strong City Baltimore. With the organization’s Communications Management Team, the DM will implement a communications plan to support the general operations of the organization and help create and maintain strong relationships with all initiatives to encourage alignment with Strong City. The DM will promote the work and values of Strong City through social media, the website, and other media outlets focusing on:
- Strong City as an organization
- Strong City as a fiscal sponsor and capacity builder
- Strong City’s programs and initiatives
- the concept of Fiscal Sponsorship
- the projects fiscally sponsored by Strong City
The DM will manage the day to day digital communications for both Strong City’s general operations and its programs and projects including maintaining and managing Strong City’s website and its social media platforms (MailChimp emails, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and blogs) and overall management of content created by members of the Comms Squad Team for existing and new media outlets.
The DM helps promotes events and creates promotional materials and coordinates this work with a graphic designer, if appropriate. The DM will produce an annual Impact Report and help create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training materials, and other tools to support programs and projects in utilizing Strong City systems and other tools to increase awareness of their work. The DM will assist the Grants Associates to expand individual giving to Strong City, Inc. and its Initiatives through the integration of the WeDidIt platform and individual social media or marketing strategies.
Strong City manages is communications work using a collaborative approach by a staff team called the “Communications (Comms Squad). The DM will organize and facilitate weekly Comm Squad meetings to ensure that the organization is communicating with a clear voice over multiple channels. The DM will maintain all foundational Strong City Branding efforts and will ensure continuous brand cohesion, accuracy, and professionalism between all outlets: acknowledgment letters, appeal letters, social media channels, website, event outreach, marketing, etc.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in teams and in a collaborative setting
- Experience with social media management for organizations of varying sizes
- Experience with WordPress and other web design
- Understanding of analytics, SEO, Mailchimp, and other digital media platforms and channels
- Communications and marketing background, ideally within the scope of nonprofits
- Photography skills preferred
