Quality Assurance Inspector

The Quality Assurance Inspector will review manufactured and sourced products that they meet the quality standards of Fortress Building Products.  The QAI will also be the primary person to manage all product warranty claims and perform special projects in house to meet customer needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·         Have a good knowledge of Fortress products

·         Work with the Innovations Team and Product Managers to ensure quality standards are outlined for manufacturing

·         Inspect all “New Item” products upon receipt with Innovations and Product Manager that the products meet specifications

·         Perform routine inspections on existing items that they continue to meet quality standards

·         Inspect outer packaging for form, fit and function and that the proper labels are in use

·         Inspect customer returned goods and segregate for sellable product, repacking product and scrap product

·         Make recommendations to product managers for packing material or configuration changes

·         Perform routine verification scans on product labels to ensure readability

·         Record all warranty claims from customers / business units and keep records in a neat and organized fashion

·         Work with BU product managers to ensure that replacement product is on order and shipped to customers

·         Communicate with the factories when quality or warranty claims are presented for corrective actions

·         Coordinate and either perform or supervise special warehouse projects such rework and assembly

·         Work with warehouse team and assist when order volume dictates that need for help



·         High School diploma or GED equivalent

·         High familiarity of quality standards and procedures

·         Good written and verbal communication skills

·         Good computer skills including Excel, Word and Outlook

·         Capable of effective problem solving in a timely manner

·         Able to handle responsibilities in a professional manner

·         Punctual and willing to assist with overtime when necessary
