Position Title:

General Manager

Purpose and Objective:

To operate the Club at the highest standards of club management excellence and to deliver financial

results that are aligned with the goals of the Franco’s Athletic Club.

 

Reports to:

Owner (s)                                               

Management:                                           

 

·         To Communicate clearly to all team members (Managers & Staff) that the club’s mission is to provide excellence in member care and facilities while returning a profit of 20% or better.         

 

·         Reviewing relationships and opportunities to reduce expense wherever possible.             

 

·         To facilitate and encourage a culture of “World Class” hospitality through innovative and solutions-oriented leadership.        

 

·         To coach and mentor all team members to be ‘peerless’ in our industry.

 

·         Chair weekly management meetings.

 

·         Lead and Mentor management team to become leaders.

 

·         Liaise with Finance Director to ensure accurate timely reporting of all revenue, expense statements and capital improvement budgets for all departments.

 

·         Operate comfortably with Netchex, Club Automation, Elements, Excel, Outlook, etc.

 

 

Club Operations:

 

·         Direct the Management team to develop and implement an annual operating plan for each of their departments. This plan will outline goals, objectives, and methodology and should align with the annual department budget  which is also prepared by each Department Manager.

 

·         Direct revenue departments to increase member uptake through improved marketing and service delivery.

 

·         Ensure smooth day-to-day operations by keeping team members well informed of processes and accountabilities while moving action items forward.

 

·         Liaise with Property Maintenance Engineer and Housekeeping Manager to oversee facility cleanliness, maintenance and any design improvements.

 

·         Work closely with ownership on club upgrades & Cap Ex projects in conjunction with owners.

 

Membership Sales & Marketing:

 

·         Direct the Club’s weekly sales meeting including a review of all activity, outreach, membership reports and financial results to ensure targets are being met.

 

·         Liaise with Creative Marketing Director for development of internal and external advertising.

 

·         Oversee web site accuracy, creative writing & imagery, functionality & metrics.

                               

Human Resources:

 

·         Participate fully in recruitment of exceptional candidates for all club positions.      

 

·         Liaise with HR Director to communicate employee benefits, training, and professional development curriculums.

 

·         Coach Managers on matters relating to employee performance improvement plus reward and recognition programs. 

 

Working Relationships/Contacts:

 

·         Manage team of 15-20 managers

·         Lead Club Staff of 200+

·         13,000+ Members

·         Vendors and applicants

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

               

·         Minimum of 5 years Management experience in Fitness/Hospitality Industry

 

·         Proven track record for Innovation/Problem Solving/Decision Making

 

·         Strong financial acumen, ability to analyze financial data to make sound business decisions (profit & Loss statements, AR, Revenue Generation, Cost Containment)

 

·         Sales and marketing experience

 

 

Skills/Knowledge/Attributes

 

·         To excel in the position, a proven track record of success in management and in-depth knowledge of the fitness/hospitality industry is a must.

 

·         You must possess a demonstrated commitment to the highest personal, professional and ethical standards.

 

·         An ability to communicate in a clear and compelling manner is imperative, as is supporting a human resources strategy that supports teamwork and continuous improvements.

 

·         Must have excellent management, communication and organizational skills. Willing to continuously assure operational excellence.

 

·         Must be persistent, analytical, thorough, attention to detail and willing to work long flexible hours including holidays and weekends.

 

·         Able to identify problems, research the issues, recommend solutions and implement the chosen solution.

 

·         Ability to coach, motivate, educate and mange staff to provide excellent customer service.

 

·         Ability to manage efficiently with budgetary constraints.

 

·         Willingness to improve professionally, learn new skills when needed, and stay up-to-date through experience and continuing education.
