Adventure Education Assistant
New Vision Wilderness (NVW) is currently seeking applicants for an Adventure Education Assistant for our Milwaukee based programs. An Adventure Ed. Assistant will report directly to the Adventure Education Director and will be responsible for the preparation, facilitation, and outreach of Adventure Ed. programs with middle and high school aged students. NVW is a wilderness therapy company, so all of our programs are therapeutically focused. Licensed therapists have helped create our curriculum and often co-lead trips. We utilize the following adventure activities: hiking, teambuilding, survival skills, canoeing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, fishing, biking, caving, rock climbing, and more.

The job being offered is a part-time position for the 2012-2013 school year. However, there is room for additional hours and upward growth in the company. We are a growing company and always welcome hardworking, professional, and honest individuals to our team. This position starts immediately.

Responsibilities:
- Facilitating one day and overnight adventure and experiential education programs
- Packing and purchasing for all trips
- Maintaining and updating paperwork
- Keeping an updated inventory
- Risk management
- Implementing NVW’s program philosophy
- Supervising students
- Communicating effectively with students, teachers, and co-leaders
- Ensuring safe, fun, challenging, and insightful outdoor experiences
- Trip and itinerary planning
- Ensuring that company vehicles and all gear is properly stored and maintained

Requirements:
- BS/BA degree required (related field preferred)
- 21+ years old
- Minimum of one year experience working in the field with at-risk youth or comparable experience
- Experience leading outdoor and wilderness based trips
- Certified Wilderness First Responder preferred
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ pounds for extended durations
- Excellent leadership skills, Strong communication skills, Creative with excellent problem solving skills
- Must be able to pass a Background Criminal Investigation.
- Able to pass a drug screen
- Clean driving record with a valid Wisconsin driver’s license

Salary/benefits:
$12 per hour. Some flexibility with hours. Pro-deal availability. Performance-based bonuses. Room for advancement in the company. NVW provides training and a friendly and challenging work environment.
