Accounting Policy Manager

Manager level position in a corporate accounting policy team requiring a thorough understanding of conventional accounting principles, regulatory capital rules and regulatory reporting rules. The individual will communicate with external regulators, executive and business unit management as well as accounting and regulatory support groups on current transactions, proposed strategies and proposed and final regulatory rulemaking. The individual will be instrumental in assessing the impacts and developing and giving feedback on the Company positions related to regulatory rulemaking. The individual must have expertise with the Basel 3 final rule and the application of regulatory rules and interpretations to regulatory reports. In addition, the individual must have expertise in the following areas: loans, accounting, debt securities, credit impairment derivatives, complex structured transactions, including securitization and transfers of financial assets and issuances of debt.

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing Company and line of business transactions for appropriate regulatory capital and reporting treatment

• Interpreting, recommending, implementing, maintaining and communicating regulatory accounting policies, practices and procedures to improve and ensure financial control and integrity of the Company’s financial statements

• Reviewing and providing input on quarterly and annual financial data for SEC and regulatory reports

• Serving as liaison for regulatory capital and reporting policy issues with banking regulators, internal auditors and external auditors

• Participating in the creation of U.S and international accounting and regulatory reporting standards, including representing Company s position in comment letters to the accounting and regulatory standard setters

• Participating in industry peer groups

• Managing implementation projects related to new rulemaking

• Maintaining regulatory accounting and reporting policy manual.

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years combined accounting/public accounting experience, CPA

Minimum Qualifications

• 1+ year management experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in a position of increasing responsibility, 5+ years management experience

• Experience in public accounting and/or internal audit, accounting policy, regulatory reporting, or other corporate finance role

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with senior management, business heads, and internal and external stakeholders
