Fundraising & Event Coordinator
Ability Matters is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Fundraising & Event Coordinator to lead the planning, execution, and growth of events and fundraising initiatives that benefit Beyond Ability Matters, our nonprofit initiative that uplifts individuals with developmental disabilities through advocacy, inclusion, and opportunity. This role blends event management with donor engagement, sponsorship development, and community outreach to support individuals with developmental disabilities. This position requires 16-20 hours per week of direct services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate is a proactive organizer who thrives in a collaborative, impact-focused environment.
What You'll Do:
Plan and Execute Mission-Aligned Events
- Lead logistics for annual fundraising events like our Golf Outing, donor appreciation gatherings, and community outreach activities.
- Manage timelines, budgets, vendor relationships, and volunteer assignments.
Build Fundraising Strategies and Partnerships
- Identify sponsorship and in-kind donation opportunities with businesses and organizations.
- Track event performance and fundraising results to inform future efforts.
Engage Donors and Grow Community Relationships
- Foster meaningful connections with donors, sponsors, vendors, and supporters.
- Implement stewardship practices to encourage long-term engagement.
Collaborate on Marketing and Promotion
- Work with the marketing team to promote events across digital, print, and social media platforms.
- Support the creation of compelling promotional content.
Keep Records & Stay Compliant
- Maintain accurate donor and sponsorship records using event and donor management platforms.
- Ensure all activities comply with nonprofit fundraising regulations and ethical standards.
Required:
- 2+ years of experience in event planning, fundraising, nonprofit development, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Comfortable interacting with donors, sponsors, and community leaders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and event management tools (e.g., Eventbrite, donor tracking software).
Preferred:
- Experience in nonprofit sponsorship development or donor relations.
- Familiarity with developmental disabilities or human services organizations.
- Bonus: graphic design or social media experience.
