Associate Attorney-Syracuse Area

Work directly with the Xavier & Associates Team to ensure that the product being delivered to clients is of the highest quality, continuously seeking to become better at the art of Crimial Defense and client service, and representing the client and the firm at the highest level in court and in the community.  

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

• Maintain primary responsibility for a full case load within the designated geographical assigned by the firm.
• Ability to generte referral business.
• Put the customer’s needs first, including explain and communicating the case with the client whenever necessary. Be open to new ideas and methods that are taught and/or discussed by the Supervisor or other attorneys in the office.  Document all work done for the client, obtain the best result possible for all client in an efficient manner, and communicating all issues.
• Participate in all firm trainings by attending said meetings and presenting new ideas or concepts to the group
• Work on any cases which may involve a felony or complex legal issues within assigned geographic area.
• Report any staff or attorney issues (attitude, performance, ethical, etc.) to the team.
• Participated in the Attorney mentoring program if Associate has been admitted less than two years.
• Work with firm in order to obtain case resolution goals within Associate’s geographical area.
• Attends training/CLE’s as required related to numerous topics relative to Criminal defense.
• Work with Legal assistant to ensure all work on cases is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Be able to work remotely if/when applicable;

Minimum Qualification Standards:

• Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice . 

• Graduate of accredited law school

• NYS Bar Admitted.

• NYS Valid Driver’s License

• Join and become active in at least one civic organization in your community (i.e. Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, Lion’s Club, etc)
