JOB DESCRIPTION FOR BLENDER/MIXER OPERATOR
JOB TITLE: BLENDER/MIXER OPERATOR
DEPARTMENT: PRODUCTION
Status: Hourly
JOB SUMMARY: Fully trained to run all mixers and fork truck and operates/oversees all machines in the department to blend ingredients into compounds for processing by performing the following duties:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Specific duties include:
- Report to work on time
- Demonstrate the ability to work with others and follow directions
- Understanding of safety procedures, OSHA and GMP’s
- Be able to lift 100 lbs.
- Keep work area clean including all tools needed for the jobs
- Be able to assist in performing changeovers
- Be able to safely operate hoist and electric pallet jack
- Show initiative and willingness to learn
- Demonstrate basic comprehension and math skills
- Load ingredients
- Turn mixer
- Pull samples and load into bulk bags
- Verify tickets
- Be able to box and label ingredients off of mixer
- Ability to work independently on blenders (include. mixing and changeovers)
- Be able to train and mentor incoming operators (temps and new hires)
- Demonstrate an understanding of safety procedures and GMP’s
- Be able to properly fill in for absent co-workers (different machines or do trash)
- Check and verify ingredients in blends for accuracy in appearance and weight
- Be able to accurately fill out production report
- Demonstrate an understanding of mixing procedures of mixing procedures (granular before powders, whole and leafy materials last)
- Knowledge of codes for ingredients
- Complete assigned tasks in a safe, efficient and timely manner
- Set up sifter
- Back-up for a lead man in the department
- Enter data information into the system
- Forklift driver
- Participates in improvement projects
SKILLS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, subtract, add, multiply, divide and write in order to keep documented logs. A High School diploma is required along with a minimum of 1-5 years of experience in a related field. Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Noise and dust levels can be high at times. PPE required.

· Ability to feed bags through a bag sealer.
· Ability to understand metal detection and rejection.
· Ability to use a tape gun and lift up to 50 lbs.
Skills and Education Requirements: A High School diploma
Inter-relations: Contact with co-workers, management, and supervisor.
Working Conditions: Overtime as required with short notice at times.
Shift is:
6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. or
2:15pm-10:45pm
