About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Chief Electrician to join our vessel operations team. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing all onboard electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient vessel operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Engineer and play a key role in supporting critical shipboard systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Remain on call while the vessel is in service to respond to electrical issues as required
  • Report to the Chief Engineer at the start of each shift to identify priorities and urgent maintenance needs
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair all electrical equipment onboard
  • Collaborate with Engineers or Oilers when electrical repairs involve mechanical components
  • Demonstrate a commitment to maintaining a just-cause safety culture.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on upper deck systems, including:
    • Radar systems
    • Communication equipment (telephones)
    • Navigational devices
  • Maintain full working knowledge of:
    • Fire-fighting systems
    • Alarm systems
    • Safety equipment
    • Safety Management System (SMS)
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Journeyman Electrician Certificate (required)
  • Valid Seafarer’s Medical Certificate
  • STCW Certifications:
    • Basic Safety
    • Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (other than Fast Rescue Boats)
    • Advanced Fire Fighting
  • Continuous Discharge Book (Seafarer’s Discharge Book)
  • Specialized Passenger Safety Management certification or endorsement
Working Conditions
  • Marine environment onboard an operating vessel
  • Must be available on call during vessel operations
  • Work may involve exposure to varying weather and sea conditions
  • Combination of routine maintenance and emergency response work
