Description

 A Leading Fortune 500® insurance holding company dedicated to helping people secure their financial lives, families and futures is looking for Controller with Financial and Insurance Experience.

Responsibilities

• Development, maintenance, and implementation of GAAP and Statutory accounting policies and procedures. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.

• Timely and accurate GAAP and Statutory financial statement and disclosure preparation including management of monthly / year end close processes. Responsible for management representation and sign off of financial statements.

• Support internal and external audit activities and inquiries.

• Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance. Monitor, evaluation, and implementation of technical accounting guidance from FASB, GAAP, SEC, NAIC, or other statutory and regulatory changes.

• Active participation in disclosure committees, USMI Compliance and Risk Committee, Capital Committee, and new product development process to provide controllership guidance and influence business decisions. Project management participation on regular ad hoc basis.

• Oversight of internal control measurement, monitoring and compliance including adherence to Sarbanes Oxley and Model Audit Rules. Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

• Collaborate across Genworth teams including HQ Controllership, TAG, Tax, Investments, etc. to ensure accurate reporting and adequate process, procedures, and controls.

• Prepare Controllership goals and budget. Lead hiring, development plans, performance management, and compensation for Controllership team.

• Manage relationships and work streams with key constituents including external auditor, regulators, actuarial firms, ERP providers, etc.

   

  Qualification

• 10 years of working experience with Accounting, MBA or CPA firm. with strong technical US GAAP experience

• Bachelors in Accounting, MBA or CPA preferred

• Experience with internal / external audits

• Knowledge of Financial ERP systems and GAAP

•  Strong financial systems / ERP knowledge (preferably Oracle)
