Financial Advisor Internship
Position Overview
Thrivent Shoreline Group is seeking motivated, professional, and growth-oriented students to join our team as Financial Advisor Interns. This paid summer internship is designed to provide hands-on exposure to the financial services profession while developing core skills in financial planning, client engagement, and business operations.
Interns will work closely with experienced financial advisors and team members, gaining real-world insight into the role of a trusted financial professional and the impact of purpose-driven financial guidance.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist financial advisors with client preparation, follow-up, and service support
• Support the financial planning process, including data gathering, organization, and analysis
• Participate in client meetings, team meetings, and professional development sessions
• Learn and assist with client relationship management (CRM) systems
• Support marketing, outreach, and client education initiatives
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance standards
Learning Objectives
• Understand the day-to-day responsibilities of a financial advisor
• Gain exposure to retirement, investment, insurance, and wealth planning concepts
• Develop client-focused communication and relationship-building skills
• Learn ethical, values-based financial guidance practices
• Explore long-term career pathways in financial services
Qualifications
Required:
• Currently enrolled undergraduate student (sophomore through senior preferred)
• Major in Finance, Financial Planning, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or related field
• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
• Professional demeanor and ability to handle sensitive information
Preferred:
• Interest in financial advising or wealth management
• Attention to detail and analytical skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Prior customer service, sales, or internship experience
Internship Details
• Compensation: Paid
• Duration: Summer term (flexible based on academic calendar)
• Schedule: 28 – 35 hours per week
• Location: Thrivent Shoreline Group (in-office Burlington, WI)
• Future Opportunity: Position may lead into a multiple year internship and financial advisor position with Thrivent Financial (this is if individual qualifies)
