Summer Intern - Concrete Sawing and Core Drilling Operator Assistant

Summary:

Centrie Concrete Cutting & Drilling is looking for a Summer Intern to work as a Concrete Sawing and Core Drilling Operator Assistant. This role supports concrete cutting and drilling projects by assisting the main operator with job site tasks, equipment preparation, and site cleanup. The Operator Assistant helps ensure projects run smoothly while following safety protocols and maintaining high-quality service standards. This is a part-time, entry-level position (no experience using slab saws, core drills, and wall saws) with an opportunity to learn a valuable trade. Applicants must be 18 years old at hire. Experience in construction preferred. This position works Monday-Friday, Saturdays as needed, from May 17-September 4, 2026 in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area.

Main Responsibilities:

·        Assist the operator with concrete cutting and drilling equipment.

·        Vacuum slurry and remove concrete debris.

·        Load, unload, and secure equipment and materials for transport.

·        Help with routine maintenance and cleaning of tools, equipment, and vehicles.

Requirements:

·        Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

·        Reliable transportation.

·        Pass required pre-employment health screenings, background checks, and safety training modules.

·        Strong mechanical aptitude.

·        Ability to learn and follow job site safety protocols and properly use PPE.

·        Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.

·        Demonstrates dependability, reliability, and a strong work ethic.

·        Physically able to perform work: carry equipment and tools as required to perform the job.
