Full-Time Recreation Therapist Supervisor

As a Recreation Therapist Supervisor at Taylor View Towers, we seek the following skills and attributes:
· Leads and manages the recreation team, including hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management, while promoting teamwork and effective communication.
Develop strategies while supporting budgeting, scheduling, and staffing within guidelines. Oversees recruitment, performance management, and helps with discipline processes, ensures compliance with contracts, manages supplies, and addresses operational needs, including after-hours support and unexpected service requirements
Oversees and coordinates recreation programs, ensuring services are effectively delivered based on resident care plans. Assesses residents’ needs and interests, monitors program quality, and organizes care partners to support recreational activities within the community.
· Supports residents’ well-being by addressing leisure needs, assisting with daily activities, and collaborating with families and healthcare professionals.
Provides training, orientation, and ongoing development for care partners while supporting team learning through meetings, education sessions, and committee participation. Promotes understanding and benefits of recreational services among staff, residents, and families, and ensures adherence to professional standards.
Maintains health and safety compliance by following protocols, identifying risks, and reporting issues, while also contributing to additional projects and assignments as needed
Qualifications:
- Must hold valid certification in First Aid and CPR
- Must have a diploma in Therapeutic Recreation or a Degree in Recreation Therapy, Leisure Studies, or Recreation Administration
- Professional Membership with the Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) required
- Obtain prior to employment, a clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector check
- Experience working with seniors is preferred
- Experience supporting recreation programs is preferred
