Summary: The Procurement Engineer will be responsible for product cost reduction activities and developing the costing engineering function.
Responsibilities:
· Support price negotiation to drive product cost reduction improvement
· Support deployment of early supplier involvement through target costing and tracking
· Develop cost models to track “target cost” for assigned product
· Maintain updates to cost drivers for assigned product and ensure cost models are updated
· Provide input for make or buy analysis
· Support the insourcing/outsourcing process
· Order tools and samples for product development
· Execute and support phase in – phase out planning for new product introduction
· Improve design decision making through target costing and managing cost drivers/data sources
· Support price negotiations to drive short/long term product cost reduction improvement
· Analyze cost trends, develop and review cost forecasts
Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
· 2 - 5 years of experience in high volume assembly industry in supply chain function
· Prior medical device/equipment manufacturing experience strongly preferred
· Knowledge of Executive Cost Down principles
· Understanding of Value Engineer principles
