Position Summary:
Sacramento Valley Walnut Growers is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused (growers and drivers) Receiving Clerk to support our seasonal peach and walnut intake operations. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring accurate data entry, effective grower communication, and safe, efficient handling of incoming product. This role requires strict adherence to Cal/OSHA safety standards and internal protocols to maintain operational excellence during peak harvest periods.
Key Responsibilities:· Receiving Operations
o Greet growers and drivers upon arrival and verify delivery documentation.
o Inspect incoming loads for basic quality indicators and report discrepancies.
o Direct the trailers once on site to the appropriate off loading station
o Weigh in and out, tag, and document all incoming peach and walnut loads using receiving software systems.
o Coordinate with forklift drivers and yard personnel to direct traffic and manage load flow.
· Data Control & Documentation
o Accurately input and verify load data including grower details, commodity type, commodity variety, field tags, weight, and condition.
o Ensure timely and error-free data entry into inventory management systems.
o Maintain meticulous records of all receipts and support traceability efforts.
· Customer Service
o Provide courteous and professional communication to growers and truck drivers.
o Resolve receiving issues quickly and escalate concerns to the Warehouse Supervisor as needed.
o Act as a liaison between field operations, plant operations, and office personnel during intake.
· Safety & Compliance
o Follow all Cal/OSHA regulations and company safety procedures, including PPE usage and traffic safety.
o Report and document any safety incidents or near-misses immediately.
o Participate in regular safety meetings and trainings.
Qualifications:
· Prior experience in agricultural receiving, warehousing, or logistics preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or receiving software; ability to learn proprietary systems quickly.
· Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a service-oriented mindset.
· Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays during harvest season.
· Familiarity with Cal/OSHA workplace safety standards is a plus.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
Work Environment:
· Fast-paced, outdoor/warehouse setting with exposure to dust, heat, and heavy equipment.
· Requires standing for long periods and working in variable weather conditions during harvest.
· May involve lifting up to 50 lbs and walking between receiving bays.
Salary Range:
$18 – 20 DOE
