Senior Staff Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist

Ninyo and Moore, Geotechnical and Environmental Sciences Consultants, is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Staff Environmental Professional position in its Greenwood Village, Colorado office. The successful candidate will perform the following duties: Conduct site assessments and investigations to evaluate risk to human health and the environment, evaluate remedial options, assist with remediation design, and implementing remedial technologies. Perform field exploration of contaminants associated with a variety of activities or conditions, such as undergrounds storage tanks (USTs) and industrial operations. Install groundwater monitoring wells and log soil borings using the Unified Soil Classification System. Complete groundwater contour and contaminant distribution maps. Summarize laboratory data, identify regulatory exceedences, coordinate with laboratory personnel, and direct field subcontractors (drill crews, construction crews, etc.). Operate field equipment such as organic vapor analyzers, water quality meters, and gas monitors. Complete field tasks in accordance with sampling plans and quality assurance plans. Purge and sample groundwater, collect soil samples and surface water samples. Draft work plans, sampling and analysis plans, characterization reports, health & safety plans, permit requests, correspondence and other documents. Review and assist managers in applying environmental regulations. Review and implement technical protocols and procedures in accordance with company operating procedures. Travel to job sites and meetings with regulators and third parties is required.

The selected candidate will be required to complete the OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Response (HAZWOPER) training, and the Colorado Asbestos Building Inspector course for work on HBM projects. This work includes asbestos sampling, oversight of asbestos removal and assisting in report preparation.

Education:Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Engineering, Environmental Science, Soil Science, or related field.

Required Skills:Two or more years of prior experience, preferably with a technical environmental consulting firm performing duties described above. Strong writing skills are a must for this position and interviewees will be asked to submit writing samples for evaluation. Candidate should have a thorough understanding of state, local, and federal environmental regulations. Candidate should also have a thorough understanding of near-surface soil and geologic conditions that control the transport of water and contaminants. Candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. Must be able to work both independently and as a team member. Must have a current valid driver's license. Current OSHA 1910.120 HAZWOPER training required.

Desired Skills:Prior experience in completing Phase I ESAs, soil and groundwater sampling, and environmental report writing. Current HAZWOPER and Colorado Asbestos Certificates are a plus. Knowledge of remediation technologies, site characterization methods, and mechanical aptitude are beneficial.
