Summary/Objective 

The paralegal position assists attorneys in drafting documents and organizing and collecting information for each case.

Essential Functions

1. Prepares legal documents and assists in preparation of visa petitions.
2. Conducts research, gathers and drafts documentation for cases.
3. Organizes, enters, and cross references documents.
4. Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, taking dictation, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail
5. Prepares and maintains document files.
6. Files correspondence and legal documents in office filing system.
7. Ensures proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Ability to write business correspondence and procedure manuals.
