The Environmental Compliance Advisor will be responsible for assisting the Environmental Permits Coordinator with ministerial permitting processes and other environmental permits. The position will primarily involve analyzing and understanding the application of laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing technical documents, and managing projects within multidisciplinary teams. The candidate will also be required to participate in monitoring and measuring the performance of the company’s environmental management systems. The advisor will work a 5-2 schedule at our Montreal offices. This is a 2-year temporary position.

Tasks and responsibilities                                        

•Participate in the preparation of applications for ministerial authorizations and other environmental permits as part of a multidisciplinary team;

•Contribute to the preparation of reports and ensure that external consultants maintain the quality of their deliverables;

•Collaborate in compiling permit requirements and conditions; 

•Report any situation that could affect the occupational health and safety of staff or the physical integrity of the facilities;

•Comply at all times with health, safety, and environmental policies and rules;

•Perform any other related tasks necessary for the smooth operation of the department.


Required qualifications

•A university degree in a relevant field (biology, geography, land use planning, etc.);

•3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the environmental sector;

•Proficiency in Microsoft Office;

•Basic knowledge of geomatics (a plus);

•Bilingualism; you will be required to work with English-speaking suppliers and consultants.


Technical skills

•Have knowledge of environmental issues related to the industrial sector, particularly the mining sector, and the relevant regulations;

•Be familiar with the provincial Environment Quality Act (LQE) and its related regulations, such as the REAFIE, RAMHHS, RMD, etc.;

•Knowledge of reference guides and best practices, such as Directive 019 (a plus);

•Possess project management skills within multidisciplinary teams.
