Wrecker Operator

Towing and Recovery

• Safely attaching disabled or wrecked vehicles to the tow truck and transporting them to a service station, repair shop, or junkyard. 

• Responding to accidents and performing recovery operations to remove vehicles from dangerous positions.

Loading vehicles:

• Properly securing cars, whether damaged or not, onto flatbed trucks or other tow equipment. 

• Jump-starts: Assisting motorists with dead car batteries. 
• Tire changes: Helping drivers with flat tires. 
• Fuel delivery: Providing a few gallons of fuel to motorists who have run out of gas. 
• Lockouts: Assisting customers who have locked their keys in their vehicle. 

• Performing daily pre-shift inspections of the tow truck and equipment to ensure safe operation. 

• Performing first-echelon maintenance and minor repairs, checking fluid levels, and ensuring tools and equipment are in good condition. 

• Communicating professionally with distressed motorists and providing excellent customer service.

• Informing dispatchers of their status and providing accurate estimated times of arrival (ETAs).

• Following company policies, safety protocols, and traffic laws to ensure safety for themselves and others. 

• Maintaining a professional demeanor, even in stressful situations, and ensuring customer safety. 

• Completing trip logs and paperwork related to each tow or service call. 
• Reporting defects: Reporting any defects, damage, or issues with the truck or equipment.
