Accounting Clerk
JOB PURPOSE: The Accounting Clerk is responsible for the administration of many fiscal affairs
including internal and external financial reporting, accounts payable, control procedures,
general ledger, and oversight of all financial transactions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Processing and recording cash receipts and bank deposits, disbursements and bank reconciliations.
Monitoring, disbursing petty cash funds not limited to reconciling and replenishing approved
balance. Maintain internal controls.
2. Responsible for timely financial reporting of grants. Accounts for all revenue and expenses, prepares
and submits monthly and/or quarterly reports for private and public funders. Responsible for
internal reports related to special events and programs.
3. Issues 1099s to contract workers. Prepares special administrative reports as required.
4. Assist Finance Director to monitor and report on program budgets. Assists with developing budgets
for proposals/grant applications.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
Attends staff and departmental meetings. Contributes to departmental and organizational
decision-making through active participation in the process. Works effectively and positively
with co-workers and volunteers. Ability to lift at least 25 pounds. Other duties as assigned by
supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting and/or finance preferred. At least two years of
experience. Ability to work effectively in an alternative service system. Excellent analytical and
mathematical skills. Advance knowledge of QuickBooks. Experience in dealing with
governmental agencies, corporations, and foundations. Knowledge of financial management in
the non-profit sector. Proficient with Microsoft Office products. Must have reliable
transportation.
