Medical Biller / Receptionist

Performs billing of clinical services rendered, such as examinations, treatments, and procedures, to patients and government or private insurance carriers. Manages patient insurances, workers' compensation, and no fault. Verifies coverage from private insurance companies, workers' compensation companies, and no fault companies. Prepares insurance information to be sent to the billing company. Monitors payments from insurances through a relationship with the billing company. Understands and explains patients' benefits as needed.

Greets and assists visitors. Checks in patients and schedules appointments. Answers telephones and provides appropriate information or routes call to appropriate person.

Performs clerical tasks, as assigned, including but not limited to filing, coding, making phone calls completing forms and data entry. Assists in the organization and administration of company objectives and policies. Classifies information about illnesses, diagnoses, and treatment using standardized codes and guidelines.

General Accountabilities:

  • Reviews clerical and personnel records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
  • Maintain the privacy of medical records.
  • Verify insurance
  • Provides information to insurance carriers or patients regarding patient accounts
  • Notifies supervisor of ongoing problems
  • Maintains files on all documentation such as charge slips, explanations of benefits, and patient information
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested

Job Qualifications:

  • Minimum Field-of-Expertise: Medical services billing, experience with Medicare and private third-party payors, and computerized billing systems
  • Preferred Experience: 2 years

  • Able to look at the Accounts receivable daily and weekly to troubleshoot it and keep it at a minimal
  • Be able to transcribe is a plus
  • You must have excellent communication skills that encourage and motivate our patients'
  • You must be proficient with the Microsoft Office and Adobe Reader
