Camp MSC Assistant Instructor (Part-Time)

Spend your summer as a camp assistant at Maryland Science Center! Help campers as they engage in hands-on STEM activities, explore museum exhibits, and attend demonstrations centered on weekly themes.

Camp MSC provides five weeks of Monday-Friday half-day and full-day summer camps for children aged 4-13. Our summer camp staff is responsible for facilitating hands-on engagement with activities based on weekly themes while ensuring camper safety. Camp Assistants help facilitate, prepare, and clean-up activities for campers. Each assistant is paired with a lead instructor, who guides the day’s activities.

Camp MSC will run from July 7- August 8, 2025. Each full-day of summer camp is from 8:30am-4:30pm with an hour lunch break, and half-day camps run from 8:30am-12:30pm.

Applicants must have completed at least one year of college coursework or have comparable experience working with groups of children. Interest and/or coursework in science or education are encouraged. All applicants must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

This position requires:

•             Experience working with children between ages 4-13

•             Familiarity with or comfort learning and explaining science content

•             Demonstration of good judgment, personal responsibility, and time management

•             Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting

Compensation: $15.00/hour
