Maintenance Mechanic – 1^st & 2^nd Shift

Location: Gilbertsville, PA

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Repairs and maintains machinery on all equipment on the production floor and manufacturing areas. This includes but is not limited to mechanical, fluid power, electrical and electronic up to but not including discrete electronic components. Repairs and maintains facility equipment. Must keep abreast of new and changing technologies in the equipment and maintenance fields which relate to cosmetics and personal care products. Will assist the engineering group in equipment improvement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works on all work centers within the production and compounding areas and/or where needed as directed by supervisor.
• Assists in assessing and maintaining a safe work environment in the production areas by performing routine self-audits and reporting the results to the supervisor.
• Repairs electrical equipment.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Performs routine maintenance on other facility equipment located in production or manufacturing
• Inspects used parts to determine status and control instruments for proper operation.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Follows required Preventative Maintenance schedule by repairing defective parts, installing special functional and structural parts in equipment or devices, and lubricating and cleaning of parts and or equipment.
• Starts equipment and devices to test their performance.
• Observes all mechanical, fluid, and electrical equipment in operation and uses audio, visual and instrumental inspection to trouble shoot, repair, and maintain all equipment.
• Assists the production and manufacturing personnel in the training for correct set up an operation of equipment.
• Dismantles production and manufacturing equipment and devices to gain access to and remove defective parts, install new or repaired parts, and reassemble the equipment and ensure production standard rates.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area.
• Assists in the training of other mechanics/maintenance personnel.

Requirements

1. Demonstrate mechanical skills and or having served as a mechanic class B for a minimum of 12 months with above average skills and or demonstrated that requirements outlined in this job description can be met at an above average level.

1. High School diploma or GED equivalent required. 

1. One-year certificate from college of technical school with a concentration in electronics or industrial mechanics, preferred.
2. Experience using Hand tools, light machining and production equipment, and other manufacturing tools and fixtures. Computer & Personal Protection Equipment.

4. Six years of combined mechanical, fluid power and electrical experience or education equivalent.
5. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

7. Ability to read and interpret documents such as SOP/GMP, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
8. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. .
9. Bi- lingual preferred (English & Spanish)
10. Ability to speak and communicate effectively with employees of organization.
11. Use independent judgment and recognize when it is necessary to partner with supervisor to deal with difficult problems.
12. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
13. Ability to add, subtracts multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimal.
14. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
15. Ability to utilize diagnostic equipment and tools.
16. Ability to stand for long periods of time and walking long distances.
17. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently.

Salary: $20 - $25 /hr (DOE)
