Summary/Objective
     
     The Night Auditor performs the duties of a Front Desk Agent and completes, balances and files night audit reports on the various areas of the hotel (i.e. food & beverage outlets, rooms/front desk, etc.) to provide accurate, timely information in accordance with cash handling, credit card processing, and accounting policies and procedures.  Knowledgeable on hotel facilities and services to assist guests as appropriate.  Ensures all communication containing Company, hotel, brand and guest information is consistent with privacy policies, practices, and regulations.  Impresses guests with quality and timely service in a pleasant and friendly manner.

 

Essential Functions

  • Prepare and input statistics and income journal sheets for preparation of daily reports.
  • Front desk Night Auditor manages the overall hotel operations and reconciliation of all 
    revenues on the moonlight shift.
  • Perform the duties of a Front Desk Agent including greeting, registering and assigning rooms in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Audit, balance, post, and report on food and beverage charges to ensure accuracy and proper cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Audit, balance, post, and report on the room charges including phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures to ensure accuracy and proper cash handling procedures are followed.
  • Complete, balance and file night audit reports including over/short figures, deposits, counts, house charges, and promotional materials.
  • Use suggestive selling skills and company sales programs to maximize revenue and occupancy levels.
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, shopping, dining, entertainment, and travel directions.
  • Answer the telephone and transfer callers.
  • Greet and welcome guests upon arrival.
  • Register guests into the computer, verifying reservation, address, and credit information.
  • Promote the Starwood/Marriot Preferred Guest Program and provide recognition and benefits to all present members.
  • Accept payment for guests’ accounts both at the time of registration and at checkout.
  • Maintain a house bank and make a deposit and accurate report of receipts daily.
  • Issue key to and control entrance of safety deposit boxes.
  • Post miscellaneous charges as requested.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role has no supervisory responsibilities

 

Work Environment
       Work is normally performed in an interior hotel environment. While performing job duties, the associate speaks, listens, completes documents, processes requests and operates office equipment such as a telephone, calculator, computer, copier, and fax.

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Physical requirements include extended periods of standing and/or walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position regularly requires night shifts, long hours and weekend work.    This is a full-time position. Weekends, nights and holidays are likely to be scheduled for work. Night Auditor must be able to work schedule based on business demands, including but not limited to weekends, holidays, nights and so forth.

 

Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

 

Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or GED diploma.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelors in hospitality preferred
  2. Night Auditor experienced preferred
  3. LightSpeed/Galaxy experience preferred

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and provide friendly guest service.
  • Ability to correctly process check-ins and check-outs, answers questions and resolves guest requests in compliance with policies and procedures, brand standards, and federal, state and local regulations.
  • Ability to processes guest bills and collects payments in compliance with cash handling, credit card processing, and accounting policies and procedures. Ability to timely compile facts/figures, identify and investigate issues and resolve basic matters.
  • Ability to follow an appropriate course of action based on policies and procedures. Ability to operate a computer, calculator, phone and other office equipment.
  • Attention to details with good organizational and efficient time management skills. Consistent professional attitude and behavior with effective listening and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible and efficient. Ability to satisfy the legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction.
